Greensburg, Kansas is a small town located in Kiowa County with a population of just over 700 residents. Despite its size, Greensburg has gained national attention for its commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices. In 2007, the town was devastated by an EF5 tornado that destroyed 95% of its buildings. Instead of rebuilding the town the same way, Greensburg decided to go green and become a model for sustainable living.

One unique fact about Greensburg is that it is home to the world's largest hand-dug well, which is 109 feet deep and 32 feet in diameter. The well was dug in 1887 to provide water for the town, and today visitors can take a tour of the well and learn about its history.

Another interesting fact about Greensburg is that it is home to the Big Well Museum and Visitors Center, which showcases the town's history and its commitment to sustainability. The museum features exhibits on the tornado that struck the town in 2007, as well as information on renewable energy and green building practices.
